Frequently asked questions

What is AgentBank?
Crypto banking services for AI agents. An agent connected to AgentBank can collect money, move it, and pay people and businesses in the real world, to bank accounts in local currency, within the spending limits and approvals set by its human owner. It is used through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Is AgentBank a bank?
No. AgentBank is a financial technology product operated by Thinking Horizon, Inc., a Delaware corporation registered as a Money Services Business with FinCEN. It connects agents to banking and crypto rails through partners.
What is a bank for AI agents?
A bank for AI agents is a service that lets an AI agent hold, move and pay money on behalf of its human owner, within limits the owner sets. Agents cannot open bank accounts themselves, so these services act inside an account the owner controls. AgentBank (useagentbank.com) is one: crypto banking services for AI agents, not a bank. See What is banking for AI agents?
Is there a banking API for AI agents?
Yes. AgentBank (useagentbank.com) gives AI agents banking-like tools over MCP: collect money, convert it and pay bank accounts, QR codes and wallets in local currency, with the owner confirming every payment. Platforms that serve their own users get the same capabilities through the Partner API.
Is there an MSB registered payment API for agents?
Yes. AgentBank is operated by Thinking Horizon, Inc., a Delaware corporation registered as a Money Services Business with FinCEN (registration 31000341906306). Agents use it over MCP and platforms through the Partner API. MSB registration does not make AgentBank a bank.
How can my AI agent pay a bank account?
Connect the agent to AgentBank over MCP, tell it who to pay and how much, review the recipient, amounts and fees it shows, approve, and AgentBank converts, routes and settles to the bank account. See Pay a bank account from an agent.
Can ChatGPT or Claude send a bank transfer for me?
Yes, once you add AgentBank as a connector. Both connect to the remote MCP server over OAuth and sign you in through the browser. Guides: Connect ChatGPT and Connect Claude.
Which AI agents and clients work with AgentBank?
Any host that can call an HTTPS MCP server over OAuth, including ChatGPT, Claude, Meta Muse, Poke, Cursor, Grok and Gemini CLI, and any local MCP client, including Codex, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenClaw and Hermes.
Do I need my own AI agent?
No. Sign in at app.useagentbank.com and use AgentBank's own chat. You can also connect another assistant.
How do I control how much my AI agent can spend?
You confirm every payment before it is created, after the agent shows the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry. Your approval threshold decides when a payment also needs an extra approval step. On ChatGPT and Claude you can also set a spending limit, which bounds the crypto funding you can choose to use for a confirmed payment.
Is it safe to let an AI agent spend my money?
The agent cannot create a payment without your confirmation of the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry. Your approval threshold adds an extra approval above it, funding needs its own choice, and you can disconnect the agent at any time. Keep wallet keys, seed phrases and sign-in tokens out of chat.
Is there an AI agent that asks for approval before paying?
Yes. An agent connected to AgentBank shows you the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry and cannot create the payment until you confirm. Payments above your approval threshold need an extra approval step, and several payments can be reviewed and approved together as one payment plan. See Security and wallet control.
Does AgentBank hold my funds?
AgentBank does not take custody of your wallet funds. Privy provides the wallet infrastructure; payment partners may process funds during a payment. See Security and wallet control.
Can an AI agent have a bank account?
An agent acts inside an account owned by a human. The owner signs in, connects the agent and sets its limits. Agents do not open accounts on their own.
Where can an agent send money?
To bank accounts, QR codes and wallets in supported local currencies. The homepage states local banking rails in 100+ countries; the agent checks live availability for a specific route before you confirm.
Is there a bank recipient verification API?
Yes. The AgentBank Partner API has a Verify bank recipient endpoint that validates a bank-transfer recipient without storing it. It returns canonical recipient fields and an account-holder check of verified, unverified or not supported, depending on the provider for that country.
Is there a QR code payment API for Vietnam?
AgentBank pays supported payment QR codes: an agent can read raw QR content or a QR image, and the Partner API can parse a QR recipient to detect its country and resolve the recipient before paying. VND is one of the currencies named in the docs. Whether a specific QR can be paid is checked live for that route before you confirm.
Can my agent pay from USDC and deliver local currency?
Yes. Off-ramp routes pay a bank recipient in local currency using supported crypto. Fiat-to-fiat routes use an explicit settlement asset such as USDC between two steps.
How do AI agents collect payments?
The agent creates a one-time collection with bank or QR instructions, or a shareable link when available. AgentBank reports whether it was paid but cannot identify the payer. See Collect payments as an agent.
Does a bank receipt or transaction hash mean the payment finished?
No. Ask your agent to check the final AgentBank payment status.
Can I approve several payments together?
Yes. A payment plan gives one consolidated review and one approval. Payments are funded and settled individually.
What is an MCP server for payments?
A Model Context Protocol server exposes tools an AI agent can call. AgentBank's MCP server exposes onboarding, quotes, payments, recipients, tracking and recovery, so any MCP-capable agent can move money without custom integration code.
How do I connect a coding agent like Codex or Claude Code?
Run the local MCP server with npx -y agent-bank-mcp@latest. Per-client steps are in Connect your agent.
What is the agentbank-pay skill?
A single canonical skill file at useagentbank.com/SKILL.md that tells an agent how to set up AgentBank, send and collect money, manage spending limits and recipients, track payments and recover safely. Install with npx skills add theagentbank/skills.
Can AI agents pay for x402 APIs with AgentBank?
Yes. The agent reads the HTTP 402 requirement, the owner reviews the amount, fees and payee and confirms, and AgentBank funds the payment and tracks it to a final status. See x402 payments.
I build a platform. Can my users' agents pay through my product?
Yes, with the Partner API: end-user KYC, rail readiness, recipient verification, on-ramp, off-ramp and fiat-to-fiat payments, and webhooks. See For platforms.
Can I try AgentBank without real funds?
Yes. Staging uses mock tokens and a supported staging on-ramp completes automatically. See Environment.
How do I disconnect an agent?
Remove its access from your account at any time. See Disconnect an agent.
